This sounds like the same thing the Shazam.com service does: send them
a snippet of music, even recorded off the radio via your iPhone mic,
and it'll identify the song. It works pretty well, even on some non-
mainstream stuff I picked up from a local college radio station.
I haven't heard anything about MS doing this, or about how it works in
general. You might be able to research what Shazam is doing, for more
info.
