I don't know. Maybe that's because 64bit Carbon support was originally
planned and then later dropped. Maybe Apple is having second thoughts
about that decision and want to include it again (which I don't hope -
Carbon s*cks in comparison with Cocoa and I for one am happy to see it
go. And this is not from a marketing point of view but from a
developer's point of view - I don't work for Apple).

You're right it doesn't. I'm pretty sure they will come out with a
64bit version when Snow Leopard is ready...
