Hi List,

I'm wondering what this means with regards to AU, esp. considering Logic
Audio. Does this mean that only cocoa views are supported in the near
future? Or can a carbon view work on the 64-bit version of the OS? Also in
logic?

Logic does support AudioUnits with Carbon views. Since Carbon is not going to be available in 64bit the question doesn't apply.

I asked a similar questions some weeks ago and am very happy this came up again.

I think the question still does apply because of some facts that just confuse me:

1) Why does auval in 64bit mode still check the "CarbonAUView" property?

Good point - it shouldn't be, so I'll check, and if it is remove it - its an oversight

2) Why are there #if __LP64__ preprocessor directives in the AUCarbonViewBase class if it's not meant to be used on 64Bit. Some parts of Carbon do exist on 64Bit OSX Leopard, seemingly enough to at least compile AUCarbonViewBase.

at one stage some parts of carbon were working for LP64 - then it was discontinued. This occurred 2 WWDC's ago.

Overall the only important question is what hosts will do on 64Bit. Do any of you any other 64Bit compatible AU host other than AULab?

AULab is provided as a way to boot-strap your development here. I don't believe any details for 64bit versions of any of the major host applications have been announced at this stage.

I almost totally migrated my CarbonViewBased AU to using a Cocoa UI but have no other app to test with and just found out that GarageBand 09 doesn't include a 64Bit version.

Thanks
