you can create longer sounds than 3 seconds with this.
You need to file a bug with more details - OS, the file(s) that you
are using, etc.

Just tested and yes, 3 seconds works longer did not. But quality
after 1 second or disintegrated, as with a purged or unlocked handle.
So not a v. useful call for this purpose.
