Am I correct that this is still not possible with any current API, either Core Audio or QuickTime?
I'm assuming that if I want to do it, it will involve my program adding QTAtoms to the file.... I'm not looking forward to going down this path, so correct me if I'm wrong.

No answers, sorry, just a "me too!" I'm also interested in this.

I suspect this is the kind of thing that would be pretty easy to implement for someone who's already a QuickTime expert, but I certainly don't want to go there. (I've used that API a bit, and it's really hairy.)
