64 Bit AU with GUI question

  • Subject: 64 Bit AU with GUI question

Hi List,

I'm working on porting a AU to 64bit and have one big question: Are Carbon View Components still possible when doing 64Bit compilation (a few days ago I would have thought 'no')?
The reason why I'm asking is that auval in 64bit mode does list the category "Carbon View Components Available" and even more interestingly that there are some #if !__LP64__ preprocessor directives in the AUCarbonViewBase.cpp file in the latest CoreAudio SDK which seems to suggests that this class can still be used. I am well aware that most Carbon UI calls are gone in 64bit, but is AUCarbonViewBase still meant to be used or should all AUs go the Cocoa ViewFactory path? Are hosts supposed to look for Cocoa only on 64Bit?

thanks in advance
