It depends on what your use case is. For this particular utility
class, originally written to support afconvert, it only wants to infer
if there is an unambiguous answer.
Is there an overview somewhere of what formats the files supports ?
You can use AudioFileGetGlobalInfo to find out what files types are
supported and what data formats those files support.
