Playing iPod Audio With AVAudioPlayer

Is there any way to play music located in the user's iPod library with AVAudioPlayer. I know that AVAudioPlayer either requires an NSURL to the audio or NSData of the audio; however, if I have an instance of MPMediaItem and I wish to play the song represented by the MPMediaItem, is there any way to play the song with AVAudioPlayer?
