I have implemented the callback function just like in the sinsynth example but it seems not to work (nor does the sinsynthwithmidi by the way). I expected the incoming midi messages to be send like a midi thru port. So I loaded the audiounit and connected it to an other soft instrument (in KORE from NI) but no incoming midi is passed thru. Any help?
Thanks in advance.

I am also very much interested in this. Please let me know if you find any more helpful information.
The ability to feed a host with generated or processed MIDI seems like a reasonable basic feature, actually. It would be great if a host was able to pass on this MIDI to subsequent AUs for rendering or record it to a track. However, as far as I have investigated yet, most DAW do not support this well. Tricky to set up via IAC Driver loopback, etc.
