Oh, how dearly I wish Apple showed any understanding of this.
But one early design decision by Apple -- that the installer tool
would default to a shared location -- has meant that it's been
training users for years to type their admin passwords at the drop of
a hat into whatever dialog appears when something that's just
downloaded is first run.
