We've had reports from a few users that specific plugins (notably the
Apple pitch plugin and the Michael Norris Soundmagic Spectral plugin)
don't work correctly when used with Ardour/Mixbus' "Consolidate with
Processing" operation. Almost all other plugins tested so far are just
fine. I don't for sure if the Apple pitch plugin is using FFT or just
AM pitch shifting, but the Michael Norris one certainly is.
That operation involves running the plugin faster than realtime - we
deactivate the plugin(s), reset their block sizes, reactivate them and
then run them as fast as the CPU allows. Is there likely to be some
issue that we are triggering that would affect FFT (and thus
presumably thread-using) plugins that has no impact on other plugins?
I know other plugin formats have some kind of way to tell the plugin
that it's used offline mode.
In our case we use this to wait for disk streaming when rendering, but I
don't know such flags in AU.
If it exists I'll be happy to implement it.
