Casa Futura Technologies is the leading manufacturer of electronic
assistive
devices for speech disorders. We need to hire a software developer to make
a
prototype speech aid for Parkinson's patients. We believe it should be
easy
to develop it as a Macintosh app, using Audio Units provided by Apple. If
the prototype is effective in clinical trials we will then have the
Macintosh app ported to the iPhone. (When will Apple include Audio Units
in
the iPhone operating system?)
The app provides the user's voice to the user's ears in real time, altered
in several ways. The Audio Units used are:
- AUDelay. 50 to 200 milliseconds. Receives input from the microphone,
outputs the delayed signal to the headphones.
- AUPitch. -1 to +1 octaves. Receives input from the microphone, outputs
the
pitch-shifted signal to the headphones.
Hi Thomas,
I have a pitch shifter. It achieves less 'warble' and has less 'flappy'
percussion transients than all the other pitch shifters out there. It also
has a real-time delay of only 46ms (2048 samples at 44.1 kHz) which fits in
with your shortest delay criteria. It's highly efficient, and could be cut
down to speech ranges if that's all you need.
You can play an Audio Unit demo of "Pitchwheel" that uses it at:

Now I've got that cheeky plug out of the way (sorry), please contact me
through the web page's "contact" page if you're interested, and we can
discuss the project.
Thanks,
Dave Hoskins
