Well indeed, so a new property would be very useful.

I've not looked at AU Generators at all, so I can't really comment on that. I still think a property would be useful in the general case (instruments, effects etc) so hosts can then query plugins in the graph to see which ones can be shut down when the host thinks they are "idle".
