it has proven to be less helpful than we first thought, so in general
I don't think many people do use them.
It is probably easier (and this is what the engine code in AULab does)
to build a construction of objects to express the various stages
(input, track mix/sends, output mix, etc) that wrap around a single
AUGraph - if you create a document in AULab you can print it out and
you can see the basic object model being used there

Maybe I should first ask if anyone else is using subgraphs?

Hello again, CA list.
I am successfully using AU subgraphs which are internally a simple
chain
of AUs headed by a generator unit. The subgraphs end with a generic
output unit, which is how I understand the subgraphs hook into their
parent AUGraph and have audio data pulled from them.
What I'm now wondering is how to use a subgraph which expects
input, for
instance, topped by a fx unit instead of a generator. What would
my top
fx AU within the subgraph connect to? What would the input
equivalent be
to the subgraph role of the generic output?
Is there documentation or example code out there that I have not
been able
to find? I only have the API info from the reference pages. This
is all
ADC searches for "subgraph" turn up.
Thanks,
Xi
