Hi,
I have an iphone app that features simultaneous record and playback
via the RIO audio unit. As a result of the problems detailed in my
second response to the post titled "Re: Problem with
AudioQueueOfflineRender in iOS4", I've temporarily switched back to
loading PCM into the playback buffers. However, on starting recording
there's a small glitch in the buffer (it's a crackle that usually
occurs between 1 and 2 seconds from start) . It's only the first
time, though: if I stop recording from the GUI and start it again, it
never recurs. It also only occurs when recording and playing back at
the same time (i.e. it doesn't happen for playback on its own or
recording on its own). It's got nothing to do with the playback data
buffer loading strategy I've employed: it occurs even if the pcm data
is completely loaded into memory.
In fact, I just observed it in Chris Adamson's Dalek Sing Along
project as well. I am only using the RIO unit and writing to disk,
while he is using the mixer unit and just passing the audio through.
I've passed a test version long to a colleague to see if he can
replicate
Has anyone else doing similar things noticed this? Oh, this is on
iOS4, 2G touch.
Thanks and regards
Pierre
