It reports some 24 bit AudioBasicStreamDescriptions so
that at least is encouraging. I have pinged their technical support
department. If anyone else knows anything about this I'd appreciate

It does not limit it to 16b
24b works great on OS X...assuming the
device is properly USB Audio class compliant and it's descriptors/streaming
properly stream 24b
I do not know if the iMic does/doesn't work properly
24b, but many USB audio devices out there do.
