Hello,
I was recently testing gain levels when doing a mic recording with VoiceProcessingIO to compare it with Audio Queue Services, and I noticed that VPIO has a higher mic gain than Audio Queue mic recording on either route, whether kAUVoiceIOProperty_VoiceProcessingEnableAGC is enabled or not, and was the hottest with kAUVoiceIOProperty_BypassVoiceProcessing enabled. I was wondering what the power usage is like for each of those technologies over time - for an app where the mic is used for 10 minutes or so, would you expect to see a significantly increased amount of battery usage when VoiceProcessingIO is used instead of an Audio Queue? Or is the hardware gain always the same and it's being suppressed in software, making the relationship between mic gain and battery usage less direct?
