MIDI device Input/Output port update

  • Subject: MIDI device Input/Output port update

Hi all,
I have a question about how CoreAudio handle MIDI devices and specially their number of port.

The first time a MIDI device is connected to Mac OS, it seems to be added in a cache as it can be seen in Audio Midi Setup list even when it is unplugged.

The number of input and output port is set and if the same device (same manufacturer/product id's) is replugged but has different I/O port config, it is not updated in CoreAudio.

If I delete the device in Audio Midi Setup and then replug my device, the number of ports is updated.

Is there any good reason that force MacOS to act like this or is it just a bug?

thanks
Kevin
