How to reset the audio system in the simulator

My dev machine has several audio outs (macpro, in addition an USB headset). For a while now, the audio in the simulator will only play in the headset. I tried everything i can think off, googled for it, but could not find a thing.

On the device audio plays fine over the speaker. So i assume that the simulator somehow thinks that the headset is my prefered route, but unplugging it did not help.

Any ideas?
