k3DMixerParam_PlaybackRate clicking noise

I get a clicking / popping noise on my iPhone every time I change the k3DMixerParam_PlaybackRate parameter of my 3D mixer from 1.0 to another value during playback.
There is no clicking noise during playback, however, if the current k3DMixerParam_PlaybackRate value is *not* 1.0.
I've been able to "fix" the problem, by using 0.9999 as the k3DMixerParam_PlaybackRate parameter, instead of 1.0.
Still I was wondering if anyone could explain what I might be doing wrong.
