Percussive attack on iPhone 4

I'm noticing a percussive attack on iPhone 4 speakers, that I don't
hear on any of the earlier devices, iPhone and iPod Touch. With
headphones it's not present. I hear this in some music apps and
possibly even the 'screen unlock' sound. Anyone else notice this? Is
there a way to avoid this-- more leading 0's?
