I do not believe there is any way to do what you want other than to implement a similar-looking view that matches Logic's controls view.

Isn't the AU host still responsible for providing a UI if the AU plugin doesn't provide its own? That's the way it used to work, Logic would just give you its default view of your parameters.

Devin is asking about this exact situation. When an AU doesn't provide its own UI, Logic will create a generic view. In contrast, when one of Logic's own proprietary plug-ins does not have a custom UI, Logic uses what Devin is calling a "controls" view. This Controls view is also created on-the-fly for any plug-in, including an AU, and Devin wants users to see this instead of the generic view.

In other words, Logic actually provides *two* UI options for an AU that doesn't provide its own.

I agree with Devin's aesthetics. Logic's "controls" view is much more pleasing to the eye than the CoreAudio generic view. Unfortunately, the user must manually select this because the CoreAudio generic view comes up by default. The only way to control the look and feel of your AU in Logic is to provide a UI of your own. Compare this to Ableton Live, where the "generic" view fits in much more nicely than the CoreAudio generic view.

All in all, I think this is a feature request for the Logic team, rather than a CoreAudio question, unless there is a solution that someone out there knows. Perhaps Logic could add a Preference option like those in AULab that allow some user ranking of UI options.
