Changing number of channels in a driver

  • Subject: Changing number of channels in a driver

I have a couple of applications where the underlying audio hardware can change the number of physical audio channels. Is there an elegant way to handle this in a CoreAudio device driver other than allocating the maximum possible number of channels and just ignoring some of them?

(Corollary: I don't see a mechanism for deleting streams except at driver unload)
