Hum... I was probably too optimistic with the basic tests I did some months ago. Did some more tests with a simple stereo audio in/out at 128 and 512 frames and well yes, the latency is high and not constant (tested on a Mac Book Pro with GeForce 9400M and GeForce 9600M GT).
So back to square one... GPU for audio may be usable but in a even more limited domain....
