Don't forget the Feedback item in the Help menu in Logic Studio.
That's certainly a more direct way to request a feature for these
applications.

I reported lack of support for these API's in Logic & MainStage as
an "Enhancement"

as a duplicate.
I remember many times in the past when members of the CoreAudio
team encouraged
the use of the bugreporter for feature requests, so I always try to
pass that suggestion
on, particularly w.r.t. this particular issue. The more often
this issue is reported,
the more likely they will be to address it.

We did the same tests here and asked on this list the same
question around a year ago. Ironically other (non-Apple)
applications actually support this Audio Unit feature.

Hi Bill,
seeing that this question has been asked here a few times
before some time
ago, I would like to know when we can expect Logic and/or
MainStage to
support it?
what makes you believe that they don't? did you implement a plugin
that uses the capabilities that were added to the AU API to permit
this? i would mention in passing that Ardour3 (whenever we
release it)
will support this.
I built the SinSynth example project which has a midi-output
build target
and modified it such that it adds a fifth to the input note.
Neither did the
plugin appear in a special group, nor did adding it to the
channel-strip
provide any options for where to route the generated midi output.
Also
connecting the output of the channel-strip in the environment
view to
another channel-strip didn't have any effect other than passing
on the input
events. I put a breakpoint in the
kAudioUnitProperty_MIDIOutputCallbackInfo handler
of SetProperty and never hit it. For the other properties I hit the
breakpoint. I should add that I only tested this in Logic, so I
don't know
if Mainstage is also missing the feature.
