AC-3 decode in Leopard+

Hello,

Does Core Audio allow me to decode AC-3 encoded data in Leopard? I found this page which describes the audio formats supported. It seems to indicate that it supports ac3 in Leopard or above, but also mentions that it could not (by default) decode AC-3 audio to PCM in Tiger.

Any clarifications here would be appreciated.
