How to Troubleshoot Coreaudio issues with audio buffer?

I'm using a mid-2010 Macbook Pro i7 with RME Fireface UC as the interface and I get buffer errors on a random but regular basis. I am trying to use the laptop to processing my live instrumental performance os I need to use a buffer of 128 samples. Any higher produces too much of a delay between what you play and hear. When these audio glitches happen I can open up Console and always find a message like this that happened right at the time of the strange sounding audio glitch:

5/4/11 6:21:47 AM kernel IOAudioStream[0xbaef300]::clipIfNecessary() - adjusting clipped position to (c075,fd9)
5/4/11 6:21:47 AM kernel IOAudioStream[0xbaf1d00]::clipIfNecessary() - Error: attempting to clip to a position more than one buffer ahead of last clip position (c073,fd9)->(c076,7e9).
5/4/11 6:21:47 AM kernel IOAudioStream[0xbaf1d00]::clipIfNecessary() - adjusting clipped position to (c075,fd9)

I didn't have problem with this on my old Macbook white. I would think this laptop should be much more capable. These glitches happen with the CPU as low as 20%. They have happened in Logic, Live, and Mainstage so I don't think it's a specific software issue. Could this be due to a feature of the mobile i7 CPU like Turbo-boost or speed-stepping? I have setup a bootcamped Windows 7 partition and do not experience the glitches using the exact same hardware MBP + RME Fireface UC and software (Ableton on the PC side) using ASIO drivers. I was able to tweak a working system with the help of DPC latency checker and Latency monitor software. Although, I would much rather not have to use Windows 7 for live performances and just stick to using OSX.

Is there anyway to troubleshoot this issue further in OSX with core audio? I have many other musician friends that have this same issue that I have run into over the past year of troubleshooting and I would love to be able to work on it instead of crossing my fingers that somehow my issue is fixed by Apple in the future. I have been sending Apple plenty of reports of my issues over the past year.  I would like to take proactive stance. I would greatly appreciate any advice from the core audio experts.

Respectfully,

Todd Matthews
