This has come up many times on this list. There is no official API for achieving this,
presumably because of copyright infringement fears (given the popularity of the request
and the relative simplicity of implementing it on Apple's side, I cannot see an other reason).
There have been several suggestions in the past on this list on how to achieve this, but
all are very highly non-trivial and would take even an experienced Mac OS X / CoreAudio
programmer weeks if not months to implement. Have a look at SoundFlower and
Jack OS X though for third party solutions. Regards,
