Yes, continuous parameters values must be filtered to avoid abrupt changes in audio.
For non-continuous parameters (like filter type, reverb type and so on) or continuous parameters that result in abrupt changes in audio (like number of samples, etc) you must detect the value change and perform a crossfade of the same audio packet processed with the old and the new parameter values.
