[AU] (Lion+) Audio Plugin API

  • Subject: [AU] (Lion+) Audio Plugin API

Will there be any documentation for the new low level AU API or will we have to deduce everything from the CoreAudio SDK utility classes?

For example, documentation for new selectors like kAudioUnitProcessSelect. In the utility classes this translates to a call to ProcessBufferLists() which, AFAICT, makes sense only for single bus effects. Does this mean that the host is responsible for detecting if the AU in question in fact uses only a single bus? And what is the exact purpose of the selector/method/callback (to provide a VST-like process() call where the plugin does not have to worry about connections and pulling input, rather it directly gets its input and output buffers)?
