Unable to get intelligible sound from Audio Queue Services (new to CoreAudio)

Hello.

I’ve just started with CoreAudio programming on the Mac, and I’m wondering what I should be doing to get intelligible sound out with Audio Queue Services.

My end objective is to create a Cocoa-based MOD file player based on the libxmp library (http://xmp.sourceforge.net/libxmp.html), but as a start I’m trying to use Audio Queue Services to play back audio from the library (for a proof of concept.)

Initially, I used the callback to populate the buffer after ‘priming’ it, but no audio came out.

Then, I moved the buffer populating to a while loop in main(), and I was able to get sound, but not intelligible sound.

What should I be doing?

Thanks in advance for your help!
