Hi,
This is probably off topic, but anyways. But I am getting desperate.
Is there a way for me to force an intel imac to run at a lower
frequency ?
My problem is that I am one of those energy sensitive persons that
can't use cell phones.
I have a brand new system sitting there that I can't use. Together
with a nice 23 inch display.
I am forced to work on a G4 laptop that can't use the new display.
I am reasonably sure that if I can lower the clock the problem will
go away.
Since the source isn't there, I can't fix it myself.
Try this:
sudo /usr/bin/pmset -a reduce 1
From 'man pmset' :
" reduce - reduce processor speed (value = 0/1) "
I'm on a G5, but hopefully it works on the new Intel Core's too.
Barring that, you could try disabling one of the core's. You can do
this if you install the CHUD tools, which adds a System Pref Pane,
called "CPU".
HTH.
