I'd have to agree. Last time I tried, admittedly 3-4 years ago
I built netbsd for a vax from absolute scratch and it worked
perfectly.
This is noteworthy since all it needed was a posix compliant o/s (I used
linux). It built the compiler, all the toolchain and then built the
kernel and all the user land in once fell swoop. A very impressive feat.
