Well, yes :D

What you want to investigate is the IOKit Registry. I don't have the sample code on this machine, please have a look at this: https://developer.apple.com/library/mac/#documentation/DeviceDrivers/Conceptual/IOKitFundamentals/Matching/Matching.html

If you encounter problems let me know. I have the sample code somewhere
