the /dev directory is not a pointer to a volume. It contains files that
refer to various pieces of hardware (all drives) and software (e.g. tty
ports) on your system. You'd probably get a better explanation googling
for the contents of the /dev directory, and it's one of those elements
common to pretty much all unices and their derivatiave OS's. Leave it
alone !
