I think that if you mess with the ipfw rules, the built-in personal
firewall will assume there is another firewall running and disable
itself. This may also interfere with internet sharing.

So is it not advisable to make/add your rules in the FireWall
settings ?
I thought to add the rules while installing my app and remove while
unistallation.

take it from them, they resent you. So we live with a stupid

firewall that does nothing to increase the security of the machine.
The only thing it does do is break applications that want to use the
network for legitimate purposes.
