UNIX operation systems in general are not useful for time-critical
applications. If you have hard real-time requirements, get a real-time
operating system.
Here's another shock for you: there are thousands of other things in
the operating system that can pull your process off the CPU or delay
it for unforeseen reasons. Deal with it, or get the tools you need.
