Terry is an engineer, not a marketing chap, and this sort of poorly veiled threat is just going to give him something to share with his co-workers at the next beer bash.
The #1 thing the average user/developer/admin can do to motivate Apple to make changes that will improve their products in your context is to write a bug. In fact, I encourage you to write many bugs, because the more and the better bugs you write, the more significance tends to get attached to them.
