- Thread-topic: Federal Employee Discount At Brick And Mortar Apple Stores
I buy from the Apple Stores often and always get a military discount.
The discounts are for hardware items but only certain hardware too. I
haven't purchased anything that didn't rate a discount but I'm sure some
hardware are exempt. No software is given a discount at the brick and
mortar stores. I purchased Tiger the day it was released and didn't get
a discount. The Apple Care Plan also rates the discount.

Sure. But only for hardware. Wouldn't give it to me for software. Not
even Apple software. Made no sense to me.

Yes. If you present your fed id they can present and ring a fed
discount. I've gotten on hardware and software (about a year ago).

Apparently it's store dependent. Tysons Corner gives discount on both
HW and SW. It helps if you show up with the online store quote and then
fuss at them.

Hi David,
I know that you can get discounts on Apple Software online. The original
post was about getting the discount at a brick and mortar Apple Store.
The Clarendon (VA) store let me buy hardware at the discounted price,
but wouldn't let me buy software in the same purchase at the discounted
price, earlier this year. My post was about the brick and mortar store
only, not about online.
Take care,
Doug

Not true for all software, at least not as far as the web store is
concerned. For example
iWork '05, Apple Federal price = $65.60, Family Pack $82.20
iWork '05, Apple Store price = $79.00, Family Pack $99.00
Both stores are offering free shipping right now.

The policy is government customers get the discount on Apple hardware in
the brick and mortar store. You can get the discount on Apple software
on the online store.
