Sorry, Dave,
Elegant is not having to shut down one OS to do a moment or two with another
OS. I much prefer the ability of a virtual machine capability which allows
me to start a process -- say MS IE -- and then get right back to what I was
doing before I needed the services of the other OS.
For example, to check the status of travel orders on the Defense Travel
System (DTS) one specifically needs IE for windows that has a "signing
plug-in". It only takes a minute or two to do this using Virtual PC (I keep
the "PC" running in the background on a low setting.) It would take far
longer and is much more onerous to have to logoff, shutdown the Mac; boot
and login on XP; start the XP Apps; logoff, shutdown the XP; boot and login
to the Mac; restart the Mac Apps I need.
How is that "elegant"? My fear with this development is that now MS can
justify ceasing work on VPC and tell us to "pound sand."
