There have been applications that do this for a long time, in fact, I
purchased one about 6 months ago for Windows... it's also a company
that is NON-US.... I do not trust PGP or any other US company for
that matter.... they can be pressured.... when it comes to
encryption, I trust the companies that do not succumb to the
pressures that companies in the US face.

I cannot find anything about similar "whole disk encryption" for *nix.
As others have pointed out, it's probably not even necessary from
an OSX
technical point of view since user data is (or should be) in ~/ and
thus
could be encrypted by FV, PGP, or other well conceived cryptware.
But I also assume govt purchasers would not see the distinction and
will
still require full disk encryption. Maybe EFI will allow that? I
have no
idea.

Expect this kind of request to become common in Government purchasing
requirements soon.
And no, FileVault is not the answer to every encryption request.

To meet this new requirement, is there any Mac-based (or further
*nix-based)
software available that has been approved? If so, where can we
get it, and
what are the costs?
