[Fed-Talk] router problem

  • Thread-topic: router problem

I just got a 3com wireless DSL/cable router for use with Mac
computers. I succeeded in configuring the wireless network with WEP
password protection. The G4 laptop connects nicely to the internet
wirelessly as does my G4 iMac via an Ethernet wire. However, for some
reason the computers cannot connect to other Ethernet based Macs on
our network. We are using DHCP. When the iMac is wired directly to the
Ethernet port it sees other network computers but when it goes through
the router either hardwired or wirelessly it does not see anything
except to other computer on the router. I imagine there is a simple
setting that needs to be changed. I have a wired router that works
fine on our ethernet network.
Any ideas?
Larry
