Unfortunately the answer (for many of us users) is "no" (I
specifically asked this question again last week). This solution is
approved to block IR ports but not camera lenses. (To use this idea,
policy has to be changed --- and that is not a local decision, it's
outside the command.)
wrt Sony's (and others') Wintel boxes with cameras, yes, there are
many non-camera options so it is less of a problem. Unfortunately,
if all Mac portables and integrated desktop units have cameras, we
will have no alternatives.

What about Sony's, unless I have the manufacturer wrong it was a

Yes, the Sony C1 series was the first of these, and several recent
Sony models also have cameras, but there are also plenty of
camera-less models to choose from.
Hmm. But unlike the Sony units, which have a flip-around camera,
the internal iSight is flush-mounted in the display bezel. I wonder
if (for at least some users) a tamper-evident metal label (with
high-energy adhesive, like a property tag) over the lens would be
sufficient? I know it wouldn't meet everyone's requirements, but
it's a little less extreme than getting out the drill and epoxy, and
less likely to void the warranty...
