Title: Re: [Fed-Talk] Use of CAC Cards with Parallels
This doesn’t answer the question but it gives you something to look at.
In the past I have always has problems with VM USB support due to the type of USB transfer the device used. I have seen the issue with isochronous transfers (web cams) in Vmware until recent versions added support. In the case of USB devices ISO 7816 specifics bulk and control transfers, and optionally interrupt transfers, all f the transfer modes except isochronous. I checked Parallels site but didn’t find any information on the type of USB transfers they support for the VM, however that is definitely one thing to check with them about. As a paying customer I would assume there is email support? (I would check but am not since I don’t have any x86 OSX products).

I have a MacBook PRO 17 running OSX 10.4.7, Parallels, Windows XP and Government CAC card thru an ActivCard Reader. I have verified that my CAC card can be read by the MacBook PRO by viewing the CAC certificates and Smart Card Reader thru KeyChain Access.
I can see that the CAC Card reader is detected (by clicking on the USB icon in the lower left of the Parallels window I can see the card reader in the USB devices list).
The problem that I am having is that thru Parallels, I can't access the CAC Card certificates for use with email, VPN access or anything. Anyone have any success with this?? Thanks.

For those with Intel Macs who will be dual booting XP-- It's $129 through AKO. Just Select "Your Benefits" and then ECommerce once you're logged in.
Or go directly to https://ascp.monmouth.army.mil/scp/content/gepp.jsp <https://ascp.monmouth.army.mil/scp/content/gepp.jsp>
and use your AKO credentials. This seems to be the least expensive way to get a legitimate copy of XP.
