There's a set of threads on this in the fed-talk archives over the last
couple of months, so look for details there. In brief:
- Upgrade the reader's firmware to the latest rev found at SCM's site.
You'll need to do this on a PC (or in Virtual PC).
- You don't need ActivCard (now ActivIdentity) software since all the
needed stuff is built into 10.4.
- You don't need the SCR drivers either; they're built into 10.4.
- I know that the SCR driver installer nukes the Apple driver, and the
ActivIdentity installer may do something similar. So I would recommend
backup, install 10.4 fresh, update to 10.4.5, restore user data, and try
again with the updated firmware reader.
When it works, you'll see the smartcard appear in Keychain. After that,
you should be good to go.
