Bottom posting causes us to get the same summary of each message of
the thread in the email list display over and over. It nullifies

Only because those platforms are broken. The tradition of text based
one-to-many forums is bottom posting because it provides immediate
context for each additional comment. This is important because (1)
English is read top to bottom, and (2) the original and the response
may be separated by days or even weeks, making that context important.
However, this needs to be coupled with proper trimming.
Then when opening the message, getting to the latest update
requires scrolling; sometimes a considerable amount.
On the other hand, top posting means I have to scroll if I'm trying
to figure out what you're responding to. It also means that when I
get dropped into a thread, I have to read messages *in reverse*.
Lastly, email software is designed to append the quoted message,
not prepend.
Only on broken platforms. Check out Thunderbird, Apple Mail, elm,
pine, &etc.
