With thanks to everyone for their help with my issues getting my CAC
to work with Leopard. It had been working fine with Tiger but when I
upgraded all that would happen is that Keychain would crash and take
Safari with it. After working through the suggestions it seems that my
KeyChain files were hopelessly corrupted. I tried repairing them and
nothing would calm the poor beast. So I went into Library/Keychain and
pulled out all the files then into Library/Preferences and dumped the
Keychain plist file.
Now it works fine. Well, at least I see the CAC appear in KeyChain
with all its various bits as it did before. Safari requests the pin
and that gets accepted and it seems all is well - except I have lost
all those passwords and goodness what else.
No matter. It was probably full of old rubbish anyway.
But I cannot make Mail to see the thing! In other words, what do I
need to do to get Mail to allow me to sign and encrypt? It worked fine
in Tiger, two little buttons as I recall would appear on a new
message, but my Leopard mail does nothing. Nor, I am horrified to say,
can I find any info, either on the Mac or on the Web.
Thanks - Lawrence
