I wouldn't mind an approved "Mac Gold Master" if it had everything I need.
The likelihood of that happening is very small. To do my job I need tools to
analyze video data (e.g., Transana or a MacShapa-like tool), a real
statistics package (not just excel!), prototyping tools like Python, ways to
collect user data (keystroke capture, eye tracking, reaction timing, etc.),
cognitive modeling tools (ACT-R), and the ability to develop and run
"programs" for experiments.
I am not asking for too much, am I? Only what I need to do my job as an
applied Cognitive Psychologist!
Susan
P.S. We haven't yet but will soon be NMCIed and then I will have a PS
machine, with an approved "Gold Disk" and my Mac. I'll use the PC for email
and the various IE-based applications that we have to use for travel,
timesheets, etc. and the Mac for everything else!
