Are you sure you can't specify a system capable of running Mac OS X

Systems that meet that requirement are available from multiple
vendors, even if only one manufacturer. There are numerous Apple VARs.
Everyone, thanks for all the input. While I have no idea how many
variations of the Mac Pro are on Apple GSA, the Apple rep has
confirmed that the basic model and the upgraded model I needed for my
project are under GSA. So if you can purchase under GSA without
additional paperwork then you can specify Mac Pros and go forward. I
had initially believed that to submit a GSA purchase you had to find a
vendor who had all items on the purchase request on GSA (otherwise how
to you get the prices?), at least at my level this is not true and the
actual buyers doing the GSA purchases don't have to keep the entire
purchase on one GSA contract from one vendor. I think we're not
supposed to break up the purchase of a system or set of identical
systems, but perhaps that relates only to credit card orders, hence my
confusion.
My remaining issue are items not on GSA but I was assured that "they"
would be able to handle any of these issues, the only restriction was
that the purchase could not go out under competitive bid without
generic specifications, it seems this restriction kicks in at some
dollar amount that we exceeded. Generic specifications meaning no
manufacturer specific specs, of course we all have no doubt that you
can spec a large computer purchase to include Windows preinstalled.
Thanks all,
Michael
