Apparently the UK MOD is quite happy with PGP WDE.

FIPS 140-2 Level 1 certification (in- process)
Mark,
Quite aware of the FIPS 140-2 requirements. As was stated
several times by Mr. Randall Easter, Director CMVP, they have been able
to claim FIPS 140-2 Validation Compliance (for the SW version) because
the Crypto Module is the same that has already been validated -- they
just go thru the formal paperwork and testing for a new platform. This
was the same for the others -- PGP, CheckPoint from the moment of their
original offering.
If folks have any question of that, please contact the CMVP
folks for direct government-to-government verification of this
statement.
Your statement is valid if in reference to the Seagate FDE
HDD, but they are going thru FIPS 140-2 as well:
Isn't "in process" the same as "certified"? I thought I remember
seeing that "in process" was just as good.
